Hockey Operations Intern

The Hockey Operations Intern is a full-time temporary, seasonal opportunity responsible for supporting department efforts during the NHL season. Upon completion of the internship the incumbent will have gained thorough knowledge of what is required to operate a NHL team. The incumbent of this position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Hockey Operations. Position requires availability to work evenings, weekends and some holidays.

Examples of Duties/Essential Functions:

• Maintain player files containing contract, personal and immigration information
• Arrange for press passes for all scouts and front office staff at other arenas
• Coordinate and assist scouting staff with any issues they may have during the year
• Organize player mail
• Maintenance of all hockey ops and scouting rosters
• Production of any reports necessary for team management staff and/or scouts
• Maintain contact information for all players and player agents
• Support and assist GM and other hockey operations staff with any special projects
• Assist and monitor all player movement
• Office duties include but are not limited to phone coverage, photocopying and fed-ex
• Various other duties as assigned by any of the Hockey Operations Staff

Specific Qualifications/Abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management or related field
• Possess a high degree of discretion and confidentiality
• Working knowledge of basic PC applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Understanding of sports marketplace and entertainment industry (knowledge of the sport of hockey a plus)
• Strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task and be deadline oriented
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and some holidays
